Since August 31 you've seen the images on television countless times, the face of our daughter, whose life was taken that night. You've also seen our faces and have heard the story. Yet with the attention this case has received, you haven't seen the times when we miss our daughter or sister so badly that we wished we had gone with her. You haven't seen us confused as to how we shall spend holidays, like Christmas or her birthday, from this point forward. You also haven't heard us when we have cried ourselves to sleep... or couldn't sleep for days on end because of so many unanswered questions. The events that night have created a black hole in the souls and hearts of our family and those who knew and loved Katie. We will never get to see those bright eyes or big smile again. Who took the life from our daughter, our sister, and why? There are so many things about this case you haven't seen, but there may be something that you have seen that could help. We believe someone in your neighborhood has valuable information to help us find the person responsible for taking our child from us. Now is the time to come forward and help us keep this person(s) from hurting anyone else. We are asking you to try to recall your observations that night because you may unintentionally have experienced events that may be important in resolving this tragedy. Katie was a beautiful young lady with huge blue eyes and a beaming smile. She lived life to the fullest, and loved being in the middle of the action. As a child, she was always goal oriented, and worked hard to get what she wanted. She had just completed her bachelor's degree at NMSU in four years and was so proud to be starting graduate school. Around 3:30 in the morning on August 31 our nightmare began. Our daughter Kathryn "Katie" Jaye Sepich left a party on Los Missioneros Street in the High Range neighborhood area, a neighborhood of nice family homes in a community of loving, caring people. Her lifeless body was found later that day south of the old dump, off of Lohman in an area frequented by recreational shooters, recreational vehicles and partygoers. Were you on Roadrunner or Frontier Streets that night? Were you around the old dump area that night? What you know or saw might just be the key to putting the puzzle together. Many of your neighbors have come forward and provided their observations of that night. For this we are so deeply thankful. But we need your help again. Some of you may possess information that could be useful to help us obtain closure so we can move on with our lives. Please help us! It is important that you think about what you were doing and what you experienced from the afternoon of August 30 to the afternoon hours of August 31. Did you experience anything that made you feel uncomfortable about a friend or a loved one? If you know anything, even if you don't think it is important, please call the Crime Stoppers at 526-8000. If you feel uncomfortable speaking on the telephone, you may write us at: The Family of Kathryn "Katie" Sepich, P.O. Box 1195, Las Cruces, New Mexico 88004. While a reward of $52,000 has been raised in this case, the future and welfare of our family rests on your shoulders: please don't let us down. Help us so none of you have to feel the pain we have been left with. Thank you and our prayers are with you.
