KRUX gets a mini-makeover and continues to serve students. by Pam Stack
I hate to ruin everyone's Monday morning by not having my usual band interview in this week's paper. I know some of you ran to the nearest Round Up stand, grabbed a copy and were saddened when you didn't see an interview. But I've decided to dedicate my article this week to the station that makes it all possible for me. KRUX 91.5-FM, the student-run New Mexico State University radio station, is launching a new look this week. KRUX staff and DJs have decided to be even more dedicated to the students by providing a variety of music, sponsoring more on-campus events and giving local bands the recognition they deserve. We've changed our slogan from "The Cutting Edge of College Radio" to "It's Like Pirate Radio ... Without the Scurvy." We've created a new Web site (www.kruxradio.com) that allows visitors to see what songs have been playing, see our top 30 charts, read about KRUX staff and DJs and much more. We'll broadcast outside of Corbett Center today, giving away CDs, posters and stickers. KRUX also will sponsor a free, all-age concert today at 6 p.m. featuring Stackhouse, Cover Your Face, The Answer Lies and Ten Seconds to Liftoff. This event will be held in the Corbett Center Aggie Underground. The live local music feast continues with the KRUX Show of the Month at 10 p.m. Friday. Somebody's Weird and Mr. Revolution will perform at the Club (1200 Foster Road).
