Aggie pitcher is on player watch list
Daniel James (D.J.) Simon has built himself up from a place of relative obscurity to having his name placed among the best pitchers in college baseball. Simon is the only undefeated pitcher in the Western Athletic Conference with at least 10 starts; he leads the WAC with eight wins, is fourth in the WAC with a 3.

The end of the year is a chance to reflect. It's the opportune moment to look back, submit to waves of nostalgia, or perhaps begin the mental blocking process, if your experiences have led you in that direction. Also, it's an appropriate occasion for confession.

Students donated time, muscle power to build bridge in Mexico
Last year, the villagers of Las Boquillas in Chihuahua, Mexico, were trapped in their village for five weeks, running low on food and getting sick, because their only road out was flooded and not passable. With the new bridge NMSU students built over spring break, that's not going to happen again.

In retrospect, as I walk away from the sports desk at the Round Up, I leave you with the following thoughts and observations. Covering sports for New Mexico State allows one to see how much these athletes love their sports. Going behind the scenes, to practices, inside locker rooms and to press conferences brings one closer to the athlete.
