NMSU teams up with Talking Stick to spice up local art scene

The first annual New Mexico Arts Convention will be held this month at NMSU to further the awareness of the Las Cruces art and cultural scene, not just in the community, but globally. Hosted by the Talking Stick Institute (TSI), the arts convention will be held at the Corbett Center Student Union in three separate sessions on Sept.

NMSU honors largest class of national scholars

The NMSU Honors College held a reception Wednesday to welcome the largest group of incoming National Merit Scholars attending New Mexico State University. The 33 National Merit Scholars, National Hispanic Scholars and National Merit Semifinalists attended the reception held in the William Conroy Honors Center where they got a chance to meet one another and mingle with the staff.

Aggie Pedals cross-country to help handicapped

Waiting anxiously in the fog on San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge, with the families of more than 100 people behind him, an NMSU student sat impatiently on his bicycle excited to begin his trip across the country. Isaac Polanco, a communication studies major, ventured on a 3,900-mile bicycle trek across the country this summer in the Journey of Hope, Push America's yearly fundraising excursion.

Since 2005, the Wellness Alcohol Violence Education (WAVE) program at NMSU has sought to educate the campus community on issues of personal safety and well-being. On Aug. 26, WAVE took its efforts a step further and opened the Crisis Assistance Listening Line (CALL) in collaboration with the NMSU Department of Health Science.

RUSH for a better college experience, clubs seek new members
